Uganda's lock down has closed all non-essential businesses & services, as the government ramps up preventative measures to combat Covid-19. The pandemic is affecting the lives of those living in poverty. In response,our organisation is already conducting a short-term food relief, & is starting efforts for long-term relief for rural families in the communities. Your donation to this fund will provide a food relief& support to the families of these communities during this challenging time.
The lockdown has forced migrant's workers to return home, cutting off any means of earning a living. They now face the reality of not being able to provide food for their families. Non-migrant workers are also struggling as they're no longer earning wage Thus; their families cannot provide basic needs. Efforts by the government to provide some food and other basic needs cannot reach everyone, our organisation is helping also to reach at least more families with a short term food relief packages
Our 5 years of working in this region gives us the ability to reach families quickly & provide them with food & hygiene packs to help them survive. Many of our staff live in rural villages, meaning we can efficiently undertake relief activities & distribute packs. We distribute food packs & hygiene packs, enough for of 5 people to last 2 weeks, following safety guidelines & social distancing. We are assessing the need of long-term livelihood support through agricultural & economic provisions.
Your support will enable us support 150 most vulnerable families prevent the spread of covid-19 and other diseases caused by hunger and poor sanitation. The food relief package will provide essential food nutrition, and will promote good hygiene that's when the package has soap,face mask and sanitizer which will curb the spread of covid-19 and will also stop the starvation within these communities.
