People with disability in Mahadewa Municipality are on strike. The government of Nepal provides a social security allowances to person with disabilities as a cash transfer scheme that aims to promote the inclusion and welfare of people with disabilities. The cash scheme helps them to buy some very basic necessities such as medicine, transport, food and to pay for carer.
However, it is the 9th month of the year and, they did not receive anything. They are struggling to live a basic life without the support and, the municipality has been making excuses after excuses. During the last chairmanship, some wrong people were benefiting through the scheme so a fresh amendment was needed according to spokesperson of the municipality. While, the genuine disabled people are desperate for the support and suffering.
A pressuring is being built up from the all sides to provide their cash benefit as soon as possible. From our side, we are doing whatever we can but we lack resources. We have created this disability project on GlobalGiving to raise funds so we can be a help in a difficult time like this one.
Please donate what ever you can to help the disabled people in Mahadewa Municipality.
