Serge was effectively born into a single-parent family, his father having had walked out when he was born with his disabilities. Mother has no family support either as her mother sadly died when she was young, and her father remarried and then failed to stay in contact. To cope, Serge's mother has recently been working in Germany in order to supplement her income and Serge’s meagre disability allowance.
Serge was born with Spina Bifida (paraparezis) and Hydrocephalus. He has undergone several bouts of surgery, including the removal of a hernia. As a result of his physical health, developmental delays (he does not speak nor move), and his need for continuous habilitation, Serge is not able to attend a kindergarten. He does however enjoy playing games with his mum.
Your kind and generous support of this project has enabled The Tony Hawks Center to offers Serge free habilitation courses consisting of massage, physiotherapy, hydro-therapy speech therapy and occupational therapy.
His journey will be a long and difficult one, but you help to make it easier for him.
