Thank you for your kind donations.

This project is providing 12,000 bespoke therapy sessions for disabled children at The Tony Hawks Centre. This is the foremost pediatric healthcare centre in Moldova, giving free therapy, education and social care to over 600 children from vulnerable families.pediatric healthcare centre in Moldova, giving free therapy, education and social care to over 600 children from vulnerable families.

Maxim suffered a trauma when he was born in 2016. This led to a diagnosis of cerebral palsy with a slight paralysis on his left side.

His father is not officially employed, but he works a lot to support the family whilst mum cares for their son. As is common in Moldova, the family rent their home in the capital, Chisinau, and have many financial problems. Maxim's grandmother helps them, but she lives in an outlying village, and can’t be with them permanently.

Maximis one of 564 children who have benefitted from the free to use rehabilitation services at the Tony Hawks Centre. Over the last year 12,600 physiotherapy and massage services were provided to all the children.

In Maxim’s case he received courses consisting of massage / physio / hydro / music and speech therapy. As a result of his treatments, his capacity of understanding has improved and he can associate an object in a picture with the real object. He has developed some communication skills but these need improvement, he answers by smiles.

The physio work has enabled him to start crawling although he has difficulties in balance and needs to develop core strength to help develop his spine.

He is a very curious child who enjoys reaching out to the world around him, and reacts with a huge smile when called by name. As well as the free therapies, if we are able to allocate Maxim to a new sponsor, then the scheme will enable the dedicated team of 16 specialists at the Tony Hawks Centre to provide material support as well to help this loving family.

Thank you for supporting this project.
