Ira has been diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy which has her immobilized and dependent on her wheelchair. The family does not have enough money for food or to provide the necessary medicines for Ira. Her father was forced to leave the country and work in Russia in order to be able to support his family.
Life was hard without the father. When he came back Ira and her brother were so happy.
Tony Hawks Center offers to Ira free rehabilitation courses consisting of massage, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy. At the beginning of the school year, the family receives financial help to buy the school uniform for Ira. Also Ira received a special wheelchair and food packages.
Wheelchair users cannot access public transport easily in Moldova, so the Centre’s free transport is essential for Ira.
Ira is so grateful of all the help she and her family receives from our partner.
Ira also participated in the in the “Marathon for All” in September 2018. It was a very empowering experience which left her with many positive emotions.
It would have been impossible to help children like Ira without the kind donations of our supporters.
Thank you for making a change in their lives.
