The Tony Hawks Children's Health Centre improves the life quality of chronically ill children from socially vulnerable families. By working with parents of young children, the Centre can give a hope to the family and prevent the child being abandoned to a life locked away in an institution.
Rehabilitation helps a child, adult or older person to be as independent as possible in everyday activities and enables participation in education, work, recreation and meaningful life roles such as taking care of family. World Health Organisation
They combine multi-disciplinary rehabilitation with parental education to help promote each child’s integration into society.
Evidence shows that early intervention at the primary care level can significantly reduce the prevalence of many chronic conditions and delay the onset of conditions, such as for cerebral palsy. BMJ 2021;372:n9
Tony Hawks Centre, Moldova offers high quality rehabilitation services for free. The Centre also provides desperately needy children and their families practical aid in the form of medications, food and clothing.
