Dear Supporter,
Moldova remains very tense. Whilst still being home to nearly 100,000 Ukrainian refugees (with it’s own3 million population already facing huge hardships) it also fears it will be next for invasion or artillery attack.
Added to this is fear over the supply, and if supplied then the cost, of gas. They are virtually wholly dependent on Russian gas. The Tony HawksCentre, providing essential rehabilitation for over 600 children living with disabilities, has already warned that they may have to close over winter due to the cutting of gas supply. Families will also be severely affected. On a more positive note, a parent of one of the Centre’s children is setting up anew charity in Moldova for children with cochlear implants. They have been provided with equipment and 80sqm of space in which they can provide educational support. However, they have reached out to the Tony HawksCentre for financial support until the New Year. ChildAid has been very pleased to cover these costs for two months, amounting to around £1,000. Meanwhile, we are re-starting our programme of teaching the disciplines of occupational therapy.
The mobility equipment's we sent to Tony Hawks Centre, Moldova have arrived. Tears of joy and happiness for children and their parents. Such essential and necessary equipment.
Thank you for making our work possible
With gratitude
