Disasters such as fires and floods destroy entire informal settlements leaving South Africans who live below the poverty line with no shelter, food or belongings. Mobilizing resources to assist these communities is always delayed or never arrives due to bureaucracy. This initiative will assist at least 60% of disaster stricken families within a week. People will receive food, clothing, school uniforms, building materials and blankets to rebuild immediately after a disaster.
Over 3.6 million South Africans live in informal settlements and when disasters such as fires and floods ravage their homes they are left destitute.
HOPE Africa is able to quickly mobilize local church structures to provide relief in the form of food parcels, hygiene packs, blankets, school supplies and building materials.
Vulnerable communities who loose everything they have will be able to rebuild their homes, have food available, toiletries, warm clothes and blankets within a week. For every disaster reported in informal settlements HOPE Africa will rebuild the lives of at least 60% of the population without any delays caused by bureaucracy.
