The 2019 spring storms of flooding and tornadoes left over 5,500 families in a state of need. Flooding reached ceiling heights in many homes creating a great need for home repairs. Home damages seen from this disaster are beyond damages seen over the last decade. Flooding impacts low income families who live in inexpensive flood planes. Mucked out homes have no insulation or drywall. Non mucked out homes are growing mold and wood rot. Building material funds and volunteers are needed.
Homes were flooded from long periods of rain fall and high winds. Massive flooding around Oklahomas many rivers and lakes impacted families across 27 counties. Some homes were mucked out leaving bare studs and subfloor as the living conditions. Other homes that were not mucked out have actively growing mold creating health problems.
Families that have no ability to recover on their own will receive materials and labor at no cost to make their home home again. This project will involve cleaning out all the damaged materials (muck-out) and then to put the home back together with new roofing, flooring, drywall... making the home safe and secure for the families.
Homes that are repaired allow those families to stay in their community keeping them economically viable, while making the home more resilient to the next storms that occur. These homes will be repaired so that the health of the family is not jeopardized by the condition of the home they live in.
