This project seeks to provide one goat per child, leveraging the economic and nutritional benefits of livestock ownership to create lasting impact targeting 2000 children in Eastern Uganda, through provision of manure for farming, and potential income from offspring sales. This initiative will not only strengthen household resilience, but also enhance children's access to education, nutrition, and healthcare, contributing to long-term community development.
In Busia, Uganda, over 60% of households live below the poverty line, and 30% of children under 5 are malnourished. Limited income sources force many children out of school. Providing goats offers a sustainable way to improve household income, nutrition, and school retention among vulnerable children.
By giving one goat per child, families gain a sustainable source of income and nutrition. Goat milk helps fight malnutrition, while sales of offspring support school fees and basic needs. Training ensures proper care and long-term benefits. This boosts household resilience, reduces poverty, and keeps children in school.
Families build sustainable income through goat rearing, improving food security, health, and education access. Children stay in school, reducing poverty cycles. As goats reproduce, benefits multiply, creating resilient households and empowered communities for generations.
