A Meal, A Smile, A Lifeline: SERUDS' Support for Neglected Senior Citizens

Respected Donor,

Warm greetings from SERUDS Charity!

We continue to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our generous and compassionate donors whose support enables us to care for abandoned and vulnerable elderly persons. Your kindness strengthens our mission and helps us provide dignity, nutrition, and emotional comfort to those who have no family to depend on.

SERUDS began the Midday Meal Program for destitute senior citizens in 2009 as part of our Zero Hunger initiative. What started as a small effort has now grown into a lifeline for many elders who struggle with poverty, homelessness, and age-related health issues. Every day, with your support, we prepare and serve nutritious meals in our hygienic community kitchen and deliver them to elderly beneficiaries living in extreme deprivation.

Most of the elders we support are between 60 and 90 years old. Many live alone in fragile thatched huts, unable to work due to poor health, and often go without food for days. Your contributions allow us to serve them freshly cooked rice, dal made with leafy vegetables, traditional sambar, seasonal pickles, buttermilk, and fresh fruits—ensuring balanced nutrition and improved health.

This month, as winter begins, we have also started distributing woolen blankets to protect the elderly from the cold. Many of them cannot afford warm clothing, making this support essential for their safety and comfort. A detailed update on this winter outreach will be included in our next report.

We currently provide daily meals to 30 elderly persons living in the urban slums of Budhavarapeta, near the graveyard area in Kurnool. For them, this meal is often the only food they receive in a day. Their improved health, increased energy, and emotional well-being reflect the powerful impact of your generosity.

The elderly recently enjoyed a small festive gathering, expressing joy, gratitude, and heartfelt blessings for every donor who makes their care possible. Without your continued support, it would be extremely difficult to meet their daily needs or bring happiness to their lives.

Thank you for supporting our mission through the GlobalGiving Foundation and for standing with us in serving vulnerable older adults. Your contributions help restore dignity, comfort, and hope for those who are often forgotten by society.

Warm regards,
SERUDS Charity
