Besides being the main health center for over 5000 people in five villages and treating normal every day illnesses including malaria, intestinal and skin issues, coughs, colds and flu, our health center also has a maternity hut and can deliver babies at the clinic and provide a place for the new mother to recover for a day before walking back home with her new baby.
We've included a photo of the maternity hut along with this update. Expectant mothers are supposed to bring with them to the clinic all supplies that they will need for their delivery. It is fortunate that a bore hole is across the road at the school so the expectant mother does not have far to walk to get water.
After delivery, our clinic can provide continued care for the new baby. The district health teams routinely come to our clinic to provide important vaccinations for babies and toddlers. Because our clinic is close, it is more likely that mothers will take time from their work in the fields to bring their children to our clinic for vaccinations and care when they are sick.
Thank you for your support of our clinic and its many valuable services to 5000 people including the very youngest members of our community! Please share this update with friends and family who have an interest in public health and health care access for all, and especially for giving babies and toddlers the best start in life, and an opportunity to thrive!
