Last month, work began on a water well at the Agwata clinic. This will be a very welcome addition! The well will be able to provide water for cleaning the clinic, and water for patients coming to the clinic after walking a long distance to reach the clinic. And the maternity patients will be very excited because up to now, they or their labor attendant assisting them had to fetch their own water from the bore hole by the school. The new well will make life easier for everyone!
And another good point to note is that this well is being funded by a community member, not Outreach Uganda! We were encouraged to see this because it is very positive to see that the existence of the clinic is not dependent solely on funding from Outreach Uganda. Its very existence helps encourage participation and involvement from others in the community. Other examples of help from others include the many vaccinations and special services teams that visit the clinic from the district and provide free services to those coming to the clinic.
This way, we can use our funding to concentrate on helping with the highest priority items like contributing towards paying the nurses and especially contributing for the most important medicines such as the medicines to treat malaria and test strips for detecting malaria.
Our support is entirely dependent on extra donations from our donors and funding from this project. We and the Agwata Community are truly grateful for the gift of health you have given the 5000 people living in this remote area of northern Uganda!
Please share this project report with at least one person you know who has a passion for helping with life saving health projects like our clinic!
