Lebanon is facing a multi-layered crisis where the spread of the pandemic, happening within the context of a fragile and weakened economy, is critically affecting the livelihood and socio-economic conditions of the Lebanese population and -by default- the refugees' as well. The project targets disadvantaged families living under the poverty line, including refugees as well as underserved Lebanese families within the hosting communities by providing meat portions and Eid clothing for children.
Lebanon is facing a multi-layered crisis. The spread of the pandemic, happening within the context of a fragile and weakened economy, is critically affecting the livelihood of the Lebanese population and -by default- the refugees as well. Vulnerability is fast expanding to reach wider segments of the population where thousands of families are facing eventual starvation where prices of food commodities and clothing have almost tripled.
URDA will distribute cow and/or sheep meat portions to the poor families living in designated underprivileged areas during the first day of Adha Eid; each meat portion weighs 2 kg approximately. Our teams will also provide clothing vouchers for underserved children so they can celebrate Eid Al Adha with new outfits.
In a time where meat prices have almost tripled and underserved families are no longer able to buy it, this project will allow disadvantaged families to celebrate a merry occasion amidst a pandemic that threatens their lives.
