Mangrove Center: Connecting human with Nature

By Md. Shamsur Rahman | Project Manager

Construction of Mangrove Center
Construction of Mangrove Center

Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) is constructing a  Sundarbans Mangrove Learning and Research Centre in collaboration with the Global Nature Fund (GNF) located adjacent to the Sundarbans Mangrove Forest in/Bangladesh the world's largest mangrove forest and a UNESCO World Heritage and RAMSAR site envisions connecting people with mangroves. The center aims to empower communities linked to mangrove ecosystems by sharing knowledge, resources, and innovative approaches to safeguard mangrove habitats. Through educational activities that highlight the local ecology, culture, and wildlife, the center seeks to promote research, conservation-tourism, nature camps, exhibition and coastal environmental education. The researcher and student will get a cultural, educational and conservational message from the center. They can prepare them as scholar or skilled person from the information and research center.

Despite the global and national significance of the Sundarbans mangrove ecosystem, local learning opportunities remain limited. To address this gap, the center was established to educate the public and future generations about the importance of conserving, protecting, and restoring coastal mangrove ecosystems.

This visionary initiative was led by BEDS and designed by the architectural firm NaJa & deOstos, known for creating spaces that harmonize human interaction with nature. It is funded by BMZ and Mercedes-Benz, with support from the Global Nature Fund.

We are requesting all our donors to start monthly recurring donation. Please click the following
