Coastal people are trying to recover their loss

Meeting with the supported villagers of Sewing

As the Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh is in the front line of global climate change; it has to face several natural disasters all over the year. Sometimes, massive disasters occur in this region that devastates coastal life and livelihoods. In the past few gigantic disasters took place here like Cyclone Sidr, Aila, Bulbul, Fani etc. But on May 20, 2020 a tremendous cyclone Amphan hit the Sundarbans area. Countless households destroyed, trees uprooted, embankments damaged, cultivable farms flooded with saline water.

BEDS provided emergency relief support to 150 coastal families with the help of GlobalGiving. We also provided some rehabilitation support to the victim families like materials for conducting sewing business and seeds for agricultural activity. Our supported families are continuing their activities and have been trying to recover their loss and damage. We are in regular touch with the affected people and providing advice and motivation to them where necessary. But they still need support to recover from their loss soon as they have lack of capital to fight with the situation and do better in the quickest time. Due to lack of fund, we can’t help those needy people.

So, we are requesting all our donors to come forward for the aid of those underprivileged, marginalized and victim people. We are grateful to our donors for their great support for the Amphan affected people. We hope that all our donors will start monthly recurring donation for the helpless, Amphan affected and disaster vulnerable people.
