ODID plans to open a modern 3-classroom pre-school to give 50 underprivileged children (ages 3-5) in Dondon Haiti, a foundation for a sound education head-start. The preschool will provide children a space to learn/ grow physically, socially, emotionally, intellectually and technologically. The curriculum will combine toys and play, games, sports, comparable to their counterparts in any parts of the world with a focus on technology, environment and foreign language learning .
Most children in Dondon do not have access to early education. Pre-schools are not accessible, available, and affordable . As a result, many young children from 3-5 years of age are left behind while mothers go to sell in the marketplace and fathers work in the fields. Those arrangements can place young children in environments not ideal for their safety and healthy development.
ODID Pre-school program will invest in children early education as the foundation and building block to their future development, providing them with a strong base for lifelong learning and learning abilities, including their cognitive and social development. The children will have a safe environment to grow and learn in order to achieve their full potential. ODID program will address the following: literacy, numeracy, cognitive development, socio-emotional development, and motor skills.
In addition to educational learning, the program will provide recreation, meals, health care, parental supports, and social services. Long-term impact expected include cognitive development; improved emotional development; Improved self-regulation; Improved academic achievement; and Improved nutrition and physical development.
