Dear Friend,
Because of your generosity, children with disabilities in Bethlehem are taking steps — some literal, some far beyond what their families once dared to hope for. We are grateful to share this update on the real progress your support has made possible.
What your support is doing right now
Through this project, our physiotherapy and occupational therapy program currently serves around 30 children, aged between 2 and 12 years, across the refugee camps of Bethlehem. Each child receives approximately three therapy sessions per week — sessions designed around their individual needs, from building strength and mobility to developing the fine motor and daily-living skills that help them grow more independent.
We want to be honest with you about the conditions we work in. The security situation in our area is difficult, and there are times when sessions must be paused or rescheduled to keep our children and staff safe. Yet through it all, our therapists remain committed, and our families keep coming back — because for these children, consistency is everything, and hope is worth the effort.
Stories of change (Names have been changed and details adjusted to protect the privacy of the children and their families.)
"Layla," age 4, arrived unable to sit unsupported. After several months of regular physiotherapy, she can now sit on her own and has begun pulling herself up to stand — a milestone her mother once feared would never come.
"Yousef," age 9, lives with a condition affecting his hand coordination. Through occupational therapy, he has learned to hold a pencil and feed himself independently — small acts that have given him confidence and dignity at school and at home.
"Sara," age 6, was withdrawn and rarely spoke during her first visits. With patient, play-based sessions, she now greets our therapists with a smile and takes part in group activities she once avoided.
These are not extraordinary exceptions. They are the everyday victories your support makes possible — one child, one session, one small step at a time.
Why the need is growing
The demand for our services has increased sharply in recent times. More families are reaching out, more children are living with injuries and disabilities, and the waiting list is longer than it has ever been. Every gift you give helps us keep our therapy rooms open, our specialists working, and our doors welcoming to the next child who needs us.
Thank you for drawing a smile on the face of a child in Bethlehem. Your kindness reaches further than you may ever know.
With deep gratitude,
Noor Society for People with Disability
