Project Status Update: The GlobalGiving-funded initiative, "San Francisco Javier: Manos Unidas por el Agua," has officially and successfully concluded. Despite the severe challenges posed by the June 24 earthquake, the project achieved extraordinary results. The educational and social impact of this intervention far exceeded our initial expectations, demonstrating incredible community resilience. As we close this chapter, we are preparing to expand our life-saving infrastructure to new, critically affected regions.
1. Extraordinary Educational & Social Impact Our goal to foster community ownership and education became a massive, school-wide movement. The engagement went far beyond our initial estimates:
2. Infrastructure Stability & Resilience The successfully installed water treatment plant and the multi-level distribution system (providing drinking fountains across all four floors of the school) continue to serve over 1,000 active beneficiaries. The community's ability to maintain focus and conclude the project with a high level of participation, even in the aftermath of the earthquake, highlights the sustainability and deep-rooted success of this intervention.
3. New Upcoming Milestone: Expanding to La Guaira In response to the recent natural disasters, our mission is expanding to the most vulnerable zones. Beginning this October, we are launching a new project in partnership with the IFC. This initiative will install high-quality water purification systems in two schools located in La Guaira State. Because La Guaira was the region most devastated by the recent double earthquake, this upcoming project is a critical emergency response to ensure continuous access to safe drinking water for affected students and families.
