October Update: Goodbye Chiapas, Hello Tlaxcala!

Our project in Margaritas, Chiapas, has come to a close. We have achieved great success, and surpassed our original goals. We provided training to 48 teachers and education authorities. We gave “I want to, I can... learn to be a parent” workshops to over 200 mothers and fathers. Finally, we reached 942 schoolchildren with our “I want to, I can... have success in school” program in three participating schools. The project was funded by MetLife, but without the additional support of our GlobalGiving donors, we wouldn’t have been able to reach as many children. For that, we offer you our deepest thanks!

Though our work in Chiapas has ended, we are still working with children to prevent addictions in Apizaco, Tlaxcala. Our program there, funded by Dow Química, is currently in its second phase of implementation, and we need some additional support from our donors at GlobalGiving. We are giving workshops to mothers and fathers of 4th and 6th graders to give them information and training to support their children to do well in school, and beginning our evaluation activities. We hope to achieve a total of 1,760 direct beneficiaries of this program.

Please help us to continue to provide support to families in Apizaco, Tlaxcala! Our work there will help children to do well in school and fortify them against abusing substances later in life.

Nuestro proyecto en Margaritas, Chiapas, ha terminad. Hemos logrado gran éxito, y hemos superado nuestras metas originales. Proporcionamos capacitación a 48 docentes y autoridades educativas.
