In Sierra Leone about 28% of household do not have access to safe Drinking water and most of them are from the slum communities which DWARZARK community is one of. The drinking water crisis in DWARZARK community has reached explosive proportions. Women and children who happens to be the most affected have to wake up as early as 2:00 am in the morning to take their gallons to available water facilities in order to get access to water, thereby exposing them to dangers such as armed robbery attack
The safe drinking water crisis in DWARZARK community has reached explosive proportions. Women and children who happens to be the most affected have to wake up as early as 2:00 am in the morning to take their gallons to available water facilities in order to get access to water, thereby exposing them to dangers such as armed robbery attack cold weather. They are forced to use any water that is available even if it is highly contaminated causing water borne epidemics of Jaundice, Cholera etc.
The project aims to drill a solar powered borehole by December 2019 in the Dwarzark community which will help the community to prevent the contamination in their water supply, eliminate time waste, thus helping to eliminate the possible spread of infection, and enable the schools have healthy children. Thus, making people healthier so that they can live more productive and fulfilling lives.
This project will provide safe drinking water for about 5,000 to 8,000 people in the community and will help to prevent water-borne diseases and will help in providing safe drinking water to poor families in the slum areas of Dwarzark which are critical for the economic development of the community as well as for improving health and living conditions.
