This project will renovate rooms within a Kindergarten to create an Early Childhood Centre to provide access to early intervention and an inclusive kindergarten program for children with additional needs in Tajikistan.
In 2011 IRODA began working to address the challenges for children with autism in Tajikistan. IRODA has been founded and led by parents who have personally experienced stigma, exclusion and a lack of services for their children. Over the last 10 years IRODA has supported families through a range of programs, including Early Childhood Intervention (ECI). The ECI program currently supports 100 children but has insufficient space for many others who are waiting to access services.
IRODA has the opportunity to run its ECI Program from a local Preschool in Dushanbe. This project will co-fund the renovation and equipping of rooms that are currently not used within the Preschool. It will create a larger space for IRODA's important work with young children and their families. Being located within a preschool will allow for natural opportunities for inclusion of children with additional needs in this early educational setting.
It is well known that support provided within the early years of a child's life will have a significant impact on their future learning and opportunities. IRODA wants to continue to create the best possible opportunities for the current 100 children accessing the ECI program. By relocating to a larger space IRODA will also ensure that children who have been waiting for the ECI program can also recieve support that will ensure that they thrive in their learning and development into the future.
