While the average African country has 59% of children enrolled in preschool education, only 32% of infants and toddlers in Rwanda are enrolled.
In addition, 39 children under the age of five die per 1,000 in Rwanda, and 50 per 1,000 in Ngoroma District.
Since 2016,
ChildFund Korea has provided early childhood education in Rwanda, supporting a total of 8 ECD(Early Childhood Development) centers and 113 home-based daycare centers, reaching a total of 8,729 children. We build ECD centers, provide educational equipment and supplies, select and train teachers, and educate parents and caregivers about education, hygiene and health. Children are provided with daily nutritious meals to help them grow up healthy.
Donated funds were used to prepare for the opening ECD centers and home-based daycare centers in Gasabo, Ngoma, and Nyabihu districts of Rwanda.
We plan to build ECD centers and home-based daycare centers in 2025 and improve the facilities. Also, we will provide nutritional support at these facilities, and develop educational materials.
