Cathwel Service will help children with developmental delay at the orphanage Jonah House in Taiwan undergo early intervention. To avoid or lower the possibility that children who are under 6 would become disabled, over 30 children at Jonah House will undergo therapies once or twice a week, including physical therapy, occupational therapy or speech-language therapy.
Three quarters of the children under 6 years old at Jonah House are being with developmental delay. It might be due to congenital diseases, inheritance, brain injury or being abused. This project will offer them necessary therapy service and raise their developmental potential.
There is already necessary assistive device or equipment at Jonah House but we still need money for therapist expenses. According to different requirements of the children, we will have physical therapists, occupational therapists or language therapists come to Jonah House helping children with developmental delay once or twice a week.
Over 30 children with developmental delay will undergo physical therapy, occupational therapy or speech-language therapy at Jonah House in year 2013. There will be more than 150 therapy service hours totally. Through the early intervention project, we could help these children develop potential as well as prevent from becoming disabled.
