The DKH has drawn plans for reconstruction immediately after the emergency. The plan: Until 2017 300 new homes are to be built to give about 1,700 people a new home alone in the district Kavrepalanchok. Each house should be around 43 square meters in size and offer a living room and two bedrooms accommodate a five- to six-member family. All homes are also equipped with an own toilet. "The Government of Nepal provides that the families themselves rebuild their homes," said Pinar Gögkün. "This is in many parts of Nepal an usual traditional."
The DKH provides the building materials such as wood, zinc sheet and hollow blocks and provide experts who are guiding those, who are involved in the construction. In this manner, crafts forces are also trained and the people are familiarized with earthquake-resistant constructions.
In addition to construction of the houses, the water supply in the 14 municipalities of the project area is restored. More than 4,000 people will have access to clean water. "In addition, our partner organizations provide hygiene training and are building school latrines for 3,500 school children and their teachers," said Michael Frischmuth, director of the Asia division of DKH in Berlin.
For this work we need your support. Because everyone has the right to live in dignity. Thnak you so much!
