Instilling Cleanliness Habits in Children Habits

By Mufid | Teacher at Punthuk Sewu

Children are trained to wash hands

Cleanliness plays a crucial role in children’s growth and development because it is closely linked to health, comfort, and the formation of healthy daily habits. Children who learn to maintain cleanliness from an early age are better protected from illness, become more aware of their surroundings, and develop a sense of responsibility for their own well-being. Clean habits also contribute to discipline and social awareness, as children begin to understand that cleanliness affects not only themselves but also others around them.

One of the most fundamental hygiene practices for children is washing their hands before eating and after outdoor activities. Hands frequently come into contact with soil, objects, and shared surfaces, making them a common source of germs. Children need to be guided to wash their hands using running water and soap, especially after playing outside, gardening, or engaging in physical activities, and always before meals. Through consistent practice, children learn that handwashing is a simple yet essential step in protecting their health.

 At Punthuk Sewu Training Center, hygiene habits are taught through daily routines and positive role modeling, rather than strict rules and regulations. Children are invited to wash their hands together before meals and after outdoor activities, while facilitators demonstrate the practice and provide gentle reminders. This approach helps children feel comfortable and understand that handwashing is a natural part of everyday life. Through consistent practice in a supportive learning environment, Punthuk Sewu helps children develop lasting hygiene habits that can be carried into their homes and daily routines.

How Your Donation Makes a Difference

Your support and donations enable Yayasan INFEST to continue developing a formal vocational education institution that provides access to education for underserved and economically disadvantaged groups in Indonesia. Your contribution helps us expand formal education pathways, enabling more young people to acquire practical skills, enhance their livelihoods, and access better opportunities for the future.

Through your generosity, we can strengthen institutional capacity, develop learning infrastructure, and ensure that education remains inclusive and accessible. Every donation—large or small—helps us maintain momentum, nurture hope, and transform long-term commitments into tangible educational impact.

What We Are Building

Donations received during 2025–2026 will be prioritised to support the development of key facilities and infrastructure for our vocational education programme, including:

  1. Improved student classrooms to create safe, comfortable, and effective learning environments;
  2. A library and additional learning facilities to support literacy, independent learning, and academic growth;
  3. Student dormitory facilities to accommodate learners from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and remote areas;
  4. A vocational skills training center to deliver hands-on, practice-oriented education aligned with employment and livelihood opportunities; and
  5. A main hall to serve as a shared space for learning activities, training events, community engagement, and institutional gatherings.

Through these efforts, Yayasan INFEST aims to build an inclusive, sustainable, and impactful vocational education ecosystem that equips learners with skills for the future while fostering dignity, resilience, and opportunity.
