Punthuk Sewu Learning Center regularly conducts monthly monitoring meetings to track the learning progress of school-aged children participating in its non-formal education program. This monitoring aims to provide parents with clear insights into their children’s development while also generating reflections and notes to support the future improvement of the learning center’s educational approach.
The monitoring sessions are attended by all parents of participating students, emphasizing the importance of parental involvement in children’s learning processes. Two models of monitoring are implemented. The first involves joint sessions with children and their parents, allowing facilitators to observe children’s learning behaviors and interactions directly. The second model consists of parent-only sessions, which create a more focused space for discussion between facilitators and parents.
During each monitoring session, facilitators present an overview of students’ learning progress, covering basic academic development, learning attitudes, and social and emotional growth. It helps parents gain a clearer and more balanced understanding of their children’s strengths, progress, and areas that require additional support.
The monitoring meetings also function as a platform for two-way dialogue. Parents are encouraged to share their observations of their children’s learning habits and behaviors at home, enabling facilitators to develop a more comprehensive understanding of each child’s overall learning environment.
As a key outcome of the monitoring process, facilitators provide parents with practical recommendations on how to support their children’s learning at home. These recommendations are tailored to individual needs and may include suggestions on study routines, learning assistance strategies, motivation-building, and effective communication approaches suited to each child’s character.
Through these regular monitoring activities, Punthuk Sewu Learning Center seeks to strengthen collaboration between educators and parents, recognizing that children’s learning development is most effective when supported consistently both at home and in the learning environment. The insights gained from monitoring sessions also serve as valuable input for continuously improving the quality of teaching and child support at the learning center.
