Pagelaran Wayang

On 17 August 2025, Punthuk Sewu, along with the surrounding community of the learning center, organized a traditional wayang performance to commemorate Indonesia's 79th Independence Day Anniversary. The event aimed to strengthen togetherness and social cohesion between the Punthuk Sewu team and residents, while celebrating national identity and cultural heritage.

The activity was attended by approximately 250 community members from diverse age groups, ranging from children to adults. Before the wayang performance, the event began with a series of collective activities, including a reflection on Indonesia's independence, the introduction of national and civic values, and a joint prayer. These activities were designed to reinforce a shared sense of history, gratitude, and unity among participants.

The wayang performance was presented by Dalang Mardi Kenci, who is known for his distinctive Wayang Tingklung style. Wayang is a traditional Indonesian performing art that has long played an important role in conveying moral lessons, cultural values, and historical narratives. Through this performance, Punthuk Sewu sought not only to celebrate Independence Day but also to reintroduce traditional arts to younger generations, many of whom may have limited exposure to such cultural expressions.

Overall, the event created a lively and inclusive space for community interaction, cultural appreciation, and intergenerational learning. The wayang performance served as both entertainment and cultural education, contributing to stronger community bonds and reinforcing the importance of preserving Indonesia's rich cultural traditions within contemporary community life.
