Investment in the Future: Helping Us Transform Our Learning Center into a Formal Vocational School

By Misbachul Munir | Project Staff

Our Journey Since 2023

Since its inception in 2023, the Punthuk Sewu Learning Center has served as a bridge for the children of Bantul, Yogyakarta. We began as a grassroots initiative to ensure that no child from a low-income household is left behind.

Through our holistic approach—combining Academic Support (Math & English), Character Building, and Community Empowerment—we have seen over 50 students regain their confidence. We have seen children who once doubted their future now dreaming of becoming leaders and professionals.

The Turning Point: Why We Must Go Formal

Despite our success as an informal center, we have reached a critical realization. In Indonesia, structural poverty remains a formidable barrier. With 60% of the population living on the edge of economic vulnerability, informal tutoring is no longer enough to break the cycle.

To provide a sustainable exit from poverty, these children need more than just "extra classes." They need:

  • Recognized Certification: To compete in the modern job market.

  • Specialized STEM & Vocational Skills: To meet the demands of future industries.

  • A Stable Environment: To protect them from the risk of school dropout due to economic pressure at home.

Our Vision: The 2026–2028 Transformation

Yayasan INFEST is taking a bold step forward. We are transitioning from a learning center into a formal education ecosystem consisting of:

  1. Junior Secondary School (SMP level)

  2. Vocational Training Center (LPK)

We will adopt a Boarding School (Pesantren) model, creating a 24/7 nurturing environment where students cultivate not only their intelligence but also their character, discipline, and humanitarian values.

Our Target: Supporting 400 students from underprivileged families across Yogyakarta by 2028.

The Blueprint of Hope: What We are Building

Your support will help us build the physical and intellectual foundation for this mission:

  • Academic & STEM Facilities: Modern classrooms, a comprehensive library, and a high-tech STEM Laboratory.

  • Residential & Spiritual Space: Safe student dormitories and supporting facilities to serve our character-building efforts.

  • Vocational Agribusiness Center: A dedicated space for livestock and agricultural training, ensuring students graduate with practical, income-generating expertise.

  • Health & Sanitation: Integrated health facilities and sustainable waste management systems.

Why Your Support Matters Today

We are not just building classrooms; we are building a gateway to equity. This expansion represents our deepest commitment to ensuring that poverty is not a life sentence.

By contributing to this transformation, you are providing the tools for a child to move from "vulnerability" to "resilience." You are helping us create a generation that will not only seek jobs but create them.

Be a part of this transformation. Let’s build a school where every child’s potential is recognized, nurtured, and celebrated.
