While no donations have come in to support the project yet, we have not been sitting idle in hte last few months. There has been a change of administration in Santiago (a new mayor from a different political party than the last one), which has frozen almost all projects in the city between november 2024 and march 2025. But, for earth day on april 22nd finally things have started to move again, with a film screening that we organised together with the Santiago Municipality, and invited a public school. With some of our old contacts and also new ones we are working hard to pick up where we left off and get them on board and support our Ecocinema project.
The report that we published last year has finally founds its way to some desks as well, so we hope that there is enough in there to peak people´s interest to support this project for next summer (which is december in the global south). On the other hand we don´t want to depend on solely one Municipality, as we believe that Ecocinema is perfectly scalable to more places and regions across Chile. We know that would take a different budget, but after two succesful editions in 2023 and 2024 we believe in it´s potential and we have the numbers to back this up!
