Real Opportunities for Sustainable Futures

By Maria Paula Granados | Comunications

It is a reality that for young women and adolescent mothers, accessing a job represents not only a source of income but also the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty and build a more stable future.

That’s why, in 2024, thanks to our employability programs, 110 adolescent mothers in Cartagena secured their first job, taking the first step toward a dignified work life. Additionally, 111 young women with previous work experience rejoined the job market, strengthening their economic autonomy and personal well-being.

We also know that education and training are crucial to ensuring that these job opportunities are sustainable. For this reason, we have designed comprehensive training programs that combine academic learning with the development of practical skills.

In Cartagena, 406 adolescent mothers participated in vocational programs in cooking, beauty, and hospitality. Furthermore, 381 young women received additional training through diplomas, courses, and workshops, enabling them to enter the workforce with greater confidence.

Our impact is reflected in the improved economic conditions of the young women we support, as 49% of those employed now earn between one and two minimum wages. This progress not only provides them with financial stability but also boosts the local economy and promotes gender equity in the labor market.

None of this would be possible without the support of our strategic partners, donors, and companies that believe in the creation of second chances. In 2024, 551 companies in Cartagena embraced sustainable employment and the professional growth of our young women.

Thank you for believing in our young women, in their future, and in our higher purpose that continues to transform lives and build a more equitable society!
