New Poultry Project in Ouarkhokh, Senegal

Friends,

Your continued support for CREATE! is generating sustainable livelihoods for rural women through poultry production in Senegal. Since our last report in August, our poultry cooperatives in the villages of Fass Kane and Fass Koffe have continued to expand and thrive due to your generous donations.

Thanks to your contributions, the community of Ouarkhokh now has its own beautiful poultry house and is producing chickens for sale!  In late August, CREATE! field technicians worked with cooperative members and a local mason to build the poultry shed from cement.  The shed’s sound construction will protect fragile chicks from hot temperatures and pillaging snakes.  Cooperative members have already purchased chicks to begin their first round of poultry production.

Today, you can help other communities like Ouarkhokh start their own poultry cooperatives.  For today only, GlobalGiving is matching new contributions to this project!  Please help communities like Diender and Thieneba gain new skills and livelihoods through poultry production.  With your generous donation, we can help make their dreams a reality!

One poultry cooperative member in Fass Koffe describes our poultry program: “Before CREATE! came, I wasn’t working; now I have work.  I’m responsible for feeding the chickens.  I participate in CREATE!’s programs because it improves my life.”  Together, we can improve lives of rural women by introducing poultry programs to new Senegalese communities.

CREATE!’s beneficiaries truly appreciate your donation to help them on their way to economic self-sufficiency! So what’s next?  We would love to have you get more involved with CREATE! Send an email to kaitlyn@createaction.org and I will let you know all the different ways that you can help out! Be sure to stay updated with what’s going on with CREATE! by becoming our friend on Facebook, following us on Twitter, and checking out our blog!

Best wishes,
