Project Report | Apr 12, 2021
We did it !

By Linda Wagoner | Project Manager

We have good news to share with you, our precious donors, who made it possible.

The goal we set last spring to raise 96k to cover all expenses of 100 additional students for the 2020-2021 school year has been achieved and the student expenses, thankfully, were met.

It is the policy of GlobalGiving to close a project when the goal is achieved, but they suggested we extend our campaign by increasing the target amount. This suggestion inspired us to extend the campaign to meet the needs of the new students arriving next month for the 2021-2022 school year. The goal has been increased to $192,000, of which half has already been accomplished and used for last year’s expenses.

The security that your generosity provided last year has given Dhammajarinee School the confidence to move forward and welcome more girls in need.

Recent news

In March, during the Government celebration of International Women’s Day, the Thai Ministry of Culture, Religion, and Arts granted the “Most Outstanding Woman” award to Dhammajarinee’s Director Acharn Yai.

The expansion of the dining room has given Dhammajarinee a new level of ease by eliminating the need for complicated meal shifts that were needed to accommodate required social distancing. The new expanded dining facilities will also make it easy to meet the needs of the growing enrollment.

All of this year’s Grade 12 graduates will go on to continue their studies at universities throughout Thailand. Some of the graduates have already received scholarships to attend the highly-respected Panyapiwat Institute of Management and The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce. The remaining graduates placed have scholarship applications with the Buddharaksha Foundation and are awaiting approval. We hope that these students will all receive a positive response, but should it become necessary, they will take a loan from the government to finance their university education.

We are deeply grateful to you for the miraculous achievements of the Dhammajarinee School in this past year. It is your generosity that lifts the school to higher and greater heights every year and gives more and more girls in need the opportunity to have an education that they could otherwise only dream of. For that, we thank you again and again.

Dhammajarinee is now well known as an unparalleled educational opportunity for young girls from poverty circumstances. The resulting inevitable growth in enrollment naturally creates an ever-increasing need for a stable base of monthly support. We warmly invite you to join the Circle of Guardian Monthly Donors, you who have already opened your hearts and changed the lives of so many vulnerable girls.
