Educate at-risk girls, end poverty cycle: Thailand

Since 2008, I have had the privilege of working directly with Dhammajarinee Witthaya School. The girls often arrive from backgrounds of disabling insecurity and lack of opportunity, backstories respectfully kept private by the school administration.

What a miracle it is to see those same girls slowly discover their strength, dignity, and hope. This is why I love this school and why I feel so deeply grateful that you are part of its success. Your support is not just financial assistance. It is a stable, encouraging message to these underserved girls that their lives matter and their futures are worth investing in.

Today, I want to share the expressions of one high school student who has been able to find and unfold her own unique talent and path to lead a successful life.

A Story of Growth

“I have noticed a deep change in my temperament; I have become a much calmer, more disciplined, and more responsible person than I ever was before joining this school. The most valuable lesson I’ve gained is having the courage to take action. I have learned to face things I was once afraid of and turn that fear into a positive force.

I want to become a physical education teacher, because I want to inspire other children to stay active and healthy, just as my teachers have inspired me. My most cherished memory is going out to compete in futsal. Being part of a team and representing the school gave me a sense of pride I had never felt before.

Because of you, this girl who once struggled with fear now feels courage. A student who once lacked direction now has a dream of inspiring others.

Every day I feel like I'm not just studying from books—every day I'm developing as a person. 40 Top Awards

On January 20th, DWS students in Grades 7–12 participated in the 73rd Thailand Student Arts & Crafts Competition, a national educational event organized under the Ministry of Education of Thailand. The competition showcased our students achievement across a wide range of fields including academic subjects, STEM, science projects, mathematics, technology, language, cultural arts, visual arts, handicrafts, music, and citizenship. DWS students earned an outstanding 40 top awards across 14 distinct subject categories. 

We are especially proud of our students for receiving the school’s first-ever award in robotics, earned by designing, building, and programming a robot entirely from scratch.

Each year, we witness remarkable growth in our students' courage, dedication, and perseverance. This is matched by the unwavering commitment and skill of our teachers, who lovingly guide and support our students as they participate in competitions.
