Spring Success and Joy at Dhammajarinee

Students grades 7-9, enjoyed Self-Development Camp
Students grades 7-9, enjoyed Self-Development Camp

Thank you for your wisdom that supporting girls' education is a blueprint for a better world.  A world with less poverty, more economic growth, and a higher standard of living for everyone starts with women reaching their full potential.

Springtime Highlights

Self-Development Camp

A two-day Self-Development Camp, sponsored by the Thai Government, was held for grade 7 to 9.  Students participated in a wide range of lively, activity-packed events.  All students enjoyed the challenges of the various fun, team-building games.  Enjoy more photos below.

Impressive Statistic of Dhammajarinee Graduates

- 95% of students who come to the school continue and graduate. In comparison, 48% of older high school students in Thailand drop out of school, largely due to poverty.

- All 49 graduates this year plan to attend university

- 50% of the graduates have chosen majors in STEM subjects. Some examples are:

Science: Medical Science, Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, Innovative Agricultural Management

Technology: Computer Science, Digital Business Technology, Digital Business Management, Creative Digital Media

Engineering: Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, Mechatronics and Robotics

We are extremely grateful that, for the second year, Logan’s Journey Scholarship is offering $50,000 to this year’s graduating class to support their college degree goals.

Teachers Journey to Northern Thailand

After graduation, Plai and Ying, Dhammajarinee teachers from Northern Thailand travelled with 70 students in two buses 17 hours to their homes in Tak Province.

The Dhammajarinee teachers spoke with families of potential students and Plai made presentations to 20 schools for impoverished children in the area. These schools mostly serve grades 1-6, but a few schools serve up to grade 9. Many children had already dropped out due to poverty.

Plai explained the value of Dhammajarinee’s free, quality education, which enables girls from impoverished areas to easily complete high school and also gives them support for higher education.

Plai and Ying brought with them 100 pairs of donated Nike sandals and enjoyed giving them to local children who lacked footwear.

New MakeHerSpace Construction Completed

We are thrilled that through the great generosity of Logan’s Journey, the construction of the new MakeHerSpace, located right next to the existing MakeHerSpace, is now completed. The 14x16 meter new room is more than three times larger than the current 6x12 meter space. Now every student at every grade level has access to this progressive hands-on learning experience.

The original MakeHerSpace has been a transformative addition to education at Dhammajarinee. It is being used by all 847 students in grades 4-12, including self-directed projects after class—far more than originally anticipated. Additionally, 20 science, math, and computer science teachers are holding their classes in the space.

Success of Our Spring Bonus Campaign

Good news! During the Spring GlobalGiving Bonus Campaign we raised $13,882. We deeply thank the139 donors who participated. This year, we depend on the three GlobalGiving Bonus Campaigns to boost our annual fundraising level—Spring, 3 July Bonus Day and Giving Tuesday, which falls on 3 December this year.

Thank you again for being a part of the story of every Dhammajarinee girl’s bright future. Your generous kindness has filled so many hearts.

Sincerely

Linda Wagoner for Dhammajarinee Witthaya School
