Educate at-risk girls, end poverty cycle: Thailand

Students will be returning this month.

Like many countries in Southeast Asia, Thailand has recently seen an upswing in COVID cases. Due to this, most of the girls have needed to stay at home with their family members or at the shelters where they came from. We are happy to report that the school should be able to reopen soon and that all the girls will return this month. Your ongoing support has provided the school with the funds needed for importance maintenance work and the purchase of uniforms, required clothing, and other supplies that are needed as soon as the students arrive.

Meanwhile, the girls who have no place to go, remained at the school and enjoyed extracurricular activities and helped with the diverse jobs needed to make ready for the new arrivals and returning students.

Recently Dhammajarinee's Director and some of the girls who remained at the school were faced with a refrigerator stocked with perishable ingredients due to the campus restaurant being closed for lockdown. They decided to put it to good use and had fun making pizza and donating it to the frontline workers at a local hospital. Individual slices of pizza were packaged up for the doctors and nurses and brought to the hospital along with bottles of the water that the students produce for resale to support the school.
