Dhammajarinee opened its doors to local Preschool and Kindergarten-aged children in 2007, after the school’s Director, Acharn Yai, learned of a concerning community need.
Low-income parents have long work hours every day, often selling things on the streets to make enough money to live. Local care centers and kindergartens are not of a good standard nor able to cover the late work hours of the parents. When Acharn Yai learned that young children were sometimes locked inside the home by their parents until they returned late at night, she knew she had to give these children a better start in life.
During the first year, Acharn Yai opened her doors to 30 local young children, including some boys. She encouraged some of the young girls to remain at the school overnight during the week, to be picked up by a parent late on Friday and brought back for school on Monday. The nutrition, safety and quality of education provided for these young children is outstanding and they are excelling just as Dhammajarinee’s older students.
Kindergarten Open House
Dhammajarinee’s young students enthusiastically showcased their learning through a Kindergarten Open House on 28 February. The students exhibited their skills and growth across all developmental areas and demonstrated their learning through interactive experiences at six themed activity booths:
High Scope – A learning approach that encourages independent thinking, problem-solving, and hands-on exploration.
Chinese Language – Building Chinese vocabulary through interactive and enjoyable activities.
English Language – Enhancing English communication skills through vocabulary games and conversational practice.
Science – Engaging in hands-on experiments to discover and explore scientific concepts.
Land of Math – Developing logical thinking and mathematical skills through creative and enjoyable challenges.
Creative Crafts (DIY) – Encouraging imagination and creative expression through arts and crafts projects.
With support from donors like you, Dhammajarinee is expanding the vision of what can be accomplished for millions of students around the world. We warmly invite you to give on one of the upcoming bonus days 25 and 26 March.
