The program develops individual and community protection for 3000 children with knowledge against sexual abuse and exploitation, human trafficking, domestic violence, unsafe migration, etc. Reproductive health and technics of self-defense are also part of the training. It sensitizes children and their parents on community-watch for a better protection of their community.(Project updated in 02/2019)
Over our experience with more than 65,000 Vietnamese victims for almost two decades, we learned that 90% of them have experienced sexual abuse during their childhood. Sexual abuse, exploitation, incest and human trafficking are recognized as important problems in Vietnam. Furthermore, reproductive health and sex-related risk prevention education for children is out of the question and we need to move forward from this obsolete state with preventive education.
Providing knowledge and skills to 3000 children to take care of their bodies and to protect themselves from sex-related crimes is an effective preventative measure. In addition, 3000 parents, teachers and local officials are also trained by the program. sexual abuse, exploitation, risks of pregnancy and abortion, incest, reproductive health, domestic violence, drugs use, human trafficking, migration, etc. are among the topics taught in easily understandable courses.
Preventive education is the best solution against this perpetual growing problem. People educated are able to protect themselves, their loved ones and acting as community watchdogs. The children educated today will become parents and will be able to better prevent the next generations against societal risks. Informing children of risks will no longer be an extracurricular subject only, but a normal routine among citizens.
