During our recent visit to the Deir Hassan camps in northern Syria, we witnessed the profound impact of education on the lives of children and their families. These moving stories extended beyond the classroom, touching the hearts of families who see education as a beacon of hope and a refuge for a better future.
We met Hajjah Umm Ismail, grandmother of little Maria, Maria lost her father and lives in a small caravan. With a voice filled with emotion, Umm Ismail shared, "We were going to send her to work with her mother because we couldn't afford school fees and books. Now, we're so happy she's studying from our caravan, and most importantly, for free." Her words reflect the hopes she holds for Maria's life.
In another tent, we sat with Ahmed and his father, who were forcibly displaced to an area far from schools. Ahmed's father spoke with determination about rebuilding their lives through education. "Due to the displacement, we stopped his education. Now that the opportunity is available, I'm thinking of going back myself to complete my baccalaureate next year"
The stories of Maria and Ahmed are part of the lives of 13301 students who joined Masarat this year. These children are learning in encouraging and safe environments, preparing for the final exams that will open the doors to universities for them.
We are grateful for your trust in us to achieve this significant change for our students and their families and to see hope shine in their eyes every day.
