In our recent report we detailed how your support has enabled young people in 3 rural areas of Europe’s poorest nation, Moldova to learn about gender equality. Thank you for being a part of this.
So how did the first workshop at one centre go?
19 adolescents, aged 11-16 years old, took part. They all felt that the interactive nature of the workshop helped them to learn new things about human rights and gender equality. They especially have commented how they liked the easy language used by the Y-Peer trainers.
What was important for them was to be able to freely ask questions, and even more importantly receive answers from the peer mentors, regarding the promotion of men and women in society and the role of media in this regard.
This was the first time the young people have had such an opportunity to have an open discussion about gender equality. As a consequence, some participants were not very open to communicate and to share their opinion, but despite this they participated in all activities during the workshop. It is early days and your support (and maybe more support from your friends and colleagues) will allow for more time for adolescents to get used to the concept of peer-to-peer learning and the topic generally.
More reports on other workshops you are enabling will follow soon.
