Following the great success of the peer-to-peer gender awareness workshops your support has lead us to a new subject as we develop the young people so that they may look towards a far more positive future.
This new programme has looked at helping teenagers formulate a strong, coherent and capturing message which can be well-received and understood by the wider public.
The objectives of the workshops have been that:
Whilst this subject may not appear to be related to the overall theme of this project (namely, sexual health and rights, traffic safety, discrimination, bullying and violence) these tools help to create a more balanced, confident young person in standing up for such rights.
The sessions included individual and group activities for participants to help them to build a message when they want to speak about a problem. They looked at how to formulate strong, cogent arguments.
Further activity has focused on spontaneous speech. Participants identified the situations on different subjects and in front of their peers had to formulate messages.
Then to put this into “real-life” practice the teenagers went out into the village and had to build a strong message for convincing people to change one opinion or thought on a subject to another more valuable one.
Thank you for being a key part in developing young minds to be more independent and allow them to develop into more confident people.
Our next report will record how the young people themselves found this part of their peer-to-peer learning.
If you feel that this type of coaching is very valuable please share the project and reports with friends and colleagues so that they too may be able to participate in creating strong minds.
