Dear Project Supporters,

Your support has made a lasting impact on Mbalu's life. We are excited to share her success story with you.   She tells us in her own words how much your support has helped her saying-

Education is the only way out of poverty for people like us coming from low-income backgrounds.

During the course of the Ebola Epidemic, schools and businesses were shut down and people’s movements were restricted, and I ended up pregnant. I was abandoned by my parents and boyfriend who got me pregnant and all of my hopes and dreams seemed to be over. I had no one to turn to and I became an outcast in my own community no one wanted to associate with me because of my predicament.

Thanks to Develop Africa Sierra Leone team who visited my community in search of girls like me who got pregnant during the course of the Ebola Epidemic and gave me a reason to dream again and start believing in myself again.

I started attending the Creating Pathways Center where I received Psychosocial and Christian Counseling, tutorials on school curriculum and computer training. The Center was established by Develop Africa Sierra Leone and the aim was to get young girls like me who got pregnant while they stay at home during the breakdown period of the Ebola Epidemic.

After giving birth to my daughter I later received a certificate of completion from Develop Africa Sierra Leone Computer Studies. With the sole help of Develop Africa Sierra Leone, I got admitted into the National Center for Vocational Studies where I chose a 3-year Diploma course on business Studies.

On the day of my Graduation, November 20, 2019, relief and joy overwhelmed me as tears filled my eyes. I feel indebted to Develop Africa Sierra Leone for changing my story.

I will be forever grateful and thankful to Develop Africa Sierra Leone for helping me get back on track.

YOUR generous donations are the reason that Mbalu got the support she needed to complete her education for her and her daughter. You truly changed Mbalu’s life! Your continued support will help more young ladies get their education and change their story. We warmly invite you to start a monthly recurring donation here. Even a few dollars a month will go a long way. This is the best way to ensure an ongoing impact. Please also share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this ongoing project.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at GlobalGiving@developafrica.org.

With great appreciation,

Amy & The Develop Africa Team
