Behind The Scenes - Enabling Computer Proficiency For Our Girls

By Sylvester Renner | Project Leader

Dear friends,

One of the exciting areas that your donations enable is computer training provided to girls at the FAWE school.

At the start of the semester, we explained to them the importance of computer literacy. We reinforced their understanding that it is beneficial for them to become computer proficient at an early age

Each class was divided into 4 groups. Our instructor has been teaching two groups every day.  In some weeks, we have taught up to 144 pupils from 4 classes.

We focus on simplifying instruction and breaking it down to their level of understanding.

We are encouraging them to ask questions as this is a great way to learn and keep them engaged.  This helps us also directly improve their learning and attention.

The girls are cooperating very well and they are eager to learn.

Each day they are improving in mouse and keyboard proficiency.

Ensuring Quality and Consistent Service / Computer Training

We are planning appropriately to ensure we can provide quality and consistent service.

  1. The lamp or bulb in the overhead projector stopped working/burned out.  Thankfully, we had a backup projector that we are now using.  We have ordered replacement bulbs and backup replacement projectors.
  2. We bought backup VGA projector cables from Amazon.
  3. We purchased 2 backup overhead projectors.
  4. We have installed an electricity meter in the computer lab.  This helps us prepaying and adding electricity units just for the computer lab.
  5. We have purchased additional monitors to increase the number of computers/seats in the lab.
  6. We have purchased a backup generator to provide electricity when there are power cuts.
  7. We have purchased a cooling fan to improve air circulation.
  8. We purchased a voltage stabilizer.
  9. Broken window panes have been replaced.
  10. We have replaced broken floor tiles.

All this is possible because of YOUR generous on-going support

Extra! Extra! DYK: Did You Know ... that on Giving Tuesday (December 1st) your donation will be matched - all day long?

This is an excellent time to give your best gift ever - as your donation will be matched and super-sized!

We are super excited that we can together invest in their education.  This is the best investment that we can make!

Thank you so much for your support
