Dear project supporters,
Thank YOU for helping to pave the way to a brighter and better future for young ladies in Sierra Leone.
Last month, we together helped to cover the cost of the end-of-high school, WASSCE exam fees for 4 beautiful and promising young ladies in Sierra Leone.
In the photo, you can see the ladies proudly holding printed copies of their official WASSCE sa form confirming payment. This is their ticket to success.
About the exam - quoted from Wikipedia:
“The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) is a type of standardized test in West Africa. Students who pass the exam receive a certificate confirming their graduation from secondary education. It is administered by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).[1] It is only offered to candidates residing in Anglophone West African countries. The academic school-leaving qualification awarded upon successful completion of the exams is the West African Senior School Certificate.”
To advance in academics, each high school graduate must obtain good grades on this exam. Some students take this exam 2-3 times endeavoring to secure better grades on each subject each year. Results can be combined from 2 attempts to secure college admission.
The ladies were delighted that we covered these costs. This brought a big relief to them.
By covering these costs, the families now have one less thing to think about. The progress of our girls will not be delayed (because a family, for instance, is not able to pay the exam fees in time).
Together we have helped them take the next step towards success. We are so excited to see what these young ladies will become in the future.
Thanks again for helping to put smiles on their faces. Making a monthly donation is the most effective way to help girls get their education, but every dollar donated makes a difference!
