Dear project supporters,
Oct 17th is the International Day of Eradication of Poverty, which is sustainable development goal- #1 No Poverty. Education is a proven way to alleviate poverty and bring lasting change. Unfortunately, girls often have limited access to education because boys' education receives preference.
Gender equality is a human right. Women are entitled to live with dignity and with freedom from want and from fear. Gender equality is also a precondition for advancing development and reducing poverty: Empowered women contribute to the health and productivity of whole families and communities, and they improve prospects for the next generation. Still, despite solid evidence demonstrating the centrality of women’s empowerment to realizing human rights, reducing poverty, promoting development, and addressing the world’s most urgent challenges, gender equality remains an unfulfilled promise. Six out of 10 of the world’s poorest people are women. When women are empowered, whole families benefit, and these benefits often have a ripple effect on future generations. -https://www.unfpa.org/gender-equality
Because of poverty, many African girls are unable to complete their education, but your support is helping change that. Thank you for helping to pave the way to a brighter and better future for young ladies in Sierra Leone through education. You are truly making a difference for girls with your generous support.
Making a monthly donation is the most effective way to help girls get their education, but every dollar donated makes a difference! If you are not yet a recurring donor and would like to sign up for a recurring donation go here.
Please also share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this ongoing project. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at GlobalGiving@developafrica.org.
With great appreciation,
Amy and the Develop Africa team
