Future Gender Advocate Thankful for College Support

By Amy M Baty-Herbert | Project Leader

Dear Project Supporters,

We greatly appreciate your ongoing support for girls’ education in Sierra Leone.  In 2021, 74 girls in elementary, Junior, and Senior Secondary school received school supplies and support for this school year.  Additionally, 10 students, one of them being Aminata, received tuition, books, and school supplies for college in 2021.

Aminata dreams of becoming a gender advocate in the future, therefore, she pursued a two years diploma course (similar to an associate's degree) in Gender and Development Studies at Fourah Bay College (FBC) the university of Sierra Leone. She completed her diploma course in the Spring of 2021.   She then looked into courses that would help her achieve her goal of becoming a Gender advocate.  Two more years of college is required for her to receive a degree and become a gender advocate.

Thanks in part to your support, Aminata's fall semester of school has been covered for this school year.  She is extremely grateful for the support she received.

Your support in 2022 will help Aminata finish another year of college as well as other young ladies that have just started college.  Additionally, Develop Africa's goal in 2022 is to assist 160 girls with their education from elementary through Senior Secondary school.

Our recurring donors are truly making a lasting difference. If you are not yet a recurring donor, we warmly invite you to consider setting up a recurring donation. Even a few dollars a month will go a long way. Consistent support is the best way to ensure ongoing impact.

Please also share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this worthy, ongoing project.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at GlobalGiving@developafrica.org.

Warm regards,

Amy and the Develop Africa team
