Here's a follow-up update on and a video summary from the 2022 December debate competition.
Meet Haja, one of the stars from the maiden edition of our inter-mentoring debate competition.
She was part of a team of girls who took on their counterpart boys, a healthy rivalry we want to replicate in other schools and communities.
Unlike many girls her age in Sierra Leone, she’s lucky and privileged to acquire essential public speaking and research skills. Skills will significantly contribute immensely to her overall development and academics.
In this video excerpt, the exceptional Haja is in full flow, pointing against the motion, “Formal education is not the key to personal success.” She paints a picture of how in the real world, just formal theoretical knowledge without sought-after practical skills is not enough to drive success.
For her, the essence of any education should equip an individual with skills and knowledge. It should give them the training that sells in the real World.
Haja’s points put things into perspective and drive us at Develop Africa to continue to push ahead to help school children get a wholesome education beyond their books at school to impact lives.
The skills that the children of Sierra Leone acquire today will be beneficial in their future and the future of their communities.
Join us in stimulating the development of their talents and abilities today.
