In the FAWE girls’ Computer Lab, students were assigned to read different African storybooks on their computers. The primary focus of the session was to highlight the significance of reading as a means to enhance language skills and expand the student's knowledge.
To start the session, the teacher assigned different stories to the students, ensuring that each student got an opportunity to read aloud. The teacher guided the students on how to use the mouse and keyboard effectively, enabling them to navigate through the stories smoothly.
One by one, the students took turns reading the stories aloud. The teacher encouraged them to speak loudly and clearly so that everyone can follow along and enjoy the tales. The students became more at ease with using the technology and their reading skills improved with each story they shared.
As the students read, they found themselves drawn into the magical world of storytelling, connecting with the characters and their adventures. The interactive nature of the session fostered an environment of collaboration and mutual learning among the students.
The session ended with the teacher expressing gratitude to the students for their enthusiastic participation in the reading activity. Through the use of the Rachel server and the power of storytelling, the students not only enhanced their language abilities but also cultivated a love for reading that will stay with them for a lifetime.
