Girls Mentoring Session Report on Makeup Artistry

By Amy Baty-Herbert | Project Leader

A girls' mentoring session was held recently on makeup artistry, thanks to the generous support from our donors. Makeup artistry is a creative and empowering field that involves the skillful use of cosmetics and artistic techniques to enhance one's appearance. This mentoring session was a vital platform for aspiring makeup artists to gain knowledge, guidance, and support, enabling them to excel in this creative industry.

The mentoring session was divided into two parts, offering a comprehensive experience for the 22 girls in attendance interested in makeup artistry.

The first part of the session focused on the theoretical aspects of makeup artistry. It provided a safe and encouraging environment for the girls to explore and nurture their passion for makeup. Facilitated by experienced mentors, Ms. Zainab B. and Mohamed K. from RUFF MAKEOVER, this phase of the session covered a wide range of topics.

The mentors shared valuable insights into makeup techniques, helping the girls develop their skills, and guiding the girls in selecting the right products, emphasizing the importance of quality.  The girls were introduced to the industry's best practices and standards highlighting the professional aspects of makeup artistry, promoting self-confidence and self-esteem among the girls.

In the second part of the session, Ms. Zainab B.  and Mohamed K. reiterated the significance of ethical and safe makeup practices. The girls were educated on proper hygiene, skin preparation, and the responsible use of cosmetics.

Throughout the session, the following key points were discussed including:

  •   Definition of makeup skills
  •   Makeup Tips
  •   Materials/Products used for makeup
  •   industry standards, and professional practices
  •   Networking and career opportunities

The practical aspect of the girls' mentoring session in makeup artistry provided a platform for the girls to enhance their skills, boost their confidence, and pursue their passion within a supportive environment.

The beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude for this mentoring session, which wouldn't have been possible without your generous support. Your contributions are truly making a difference in girls' education and mentoring.
