In Sierra Leone, where the electricity supply is often unreliable, having a standby generator is crucial for organizations dedicated to empowering communities through education and development. We rely heavily on consistent power to operate our programs. Our standby generator has become indispensable, especially in supporting the computer lab and ensuring the smooth daily operations of the organization.
One key area where the standby generator has proven its value is the computer lab, which serves as a hub for training youths in basic computer proficiency. Every month, students benefit from these training sessions, equipping them with essential skills for the modern workforce. Computer literacy is becoming a fundamental requirement for professional growth, yet many young people in Sierra Leone lack access to proper training due to unreliable power.
The generator ensures that the computer lab remains operational during frequent power outages. With this backup power source, these vital training sessions would be continued, limiting the impact that Develop Africa can make in preparing youths for future employment and educational opportunities.
Beyond the computer lab, the generator plays a critical role in supporting Develop Africa's daily operations. From administrative tasks to communications with partners and stakeholders, the organization relies on continuous access to electricity. The national grid in Sierra Leone has been far from reliable, with regular power cuts affecting productivity and causing delays.
The standby generator has minimized these disruptions, allowing the staff at Develop Africa to maintain a steady workflow. This ensures that programs can be implemented on schedule, reports can be submitted promptly, and communication with donors, volunteers, and beneficiaries remains consistent.
The standby generator offers a reliable solution, ensuring that the organization can continue to operate effectively, regardless of the state of the national power grid. It is not just a backup system—it is a lifeline for Develop Africa’s operations and the youth it serves.
Your support helps to fuel our generator and make a difference.
Warmest regards,
Amy and the Develop Africa Team
