Today, on International Literacy Day, we are reminded that literacy is more than just the ability to read and write—it is the foundation of education, opportunity, and empowerment. For girls in Sierra Leone, literacy opens the door to a brighter future.
When a girl learns to read, she gains the confidence to dream beyond limitations. Education equips her with the tools to pursue those dreams, lifting not only herself but also her family and community out of poverty. Literacy and education go hand in hand—together, they are powerful drivers of change.
Thanks to your generosity, girls in Sierra Leone are receiving the support they need through scholarships, school supplies, books, mentoring, and computer training. Your contributions are ensuring that more girls can stay in school, build strong literacy skills, and grow into leaders who will shape a better tomorrow.
Your belief in the power of education is helping to break barriers and create lasting change. We are deeply grateful for your continued support, and we invite you to keep walking with us on this journey of empowerment. Together, we can ensure that every girl has the chance to read, learn, and lead.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Amy & the Develop Africa Team
